British trawler's wrecks

A stormy night ended dramatically for the crew of a British trawler on March 13, 1948. Their ship crashed off the rocky coast of Dritvik in western Iceland.

The fishing boat, the Epine GY7, was torn to pieces in the middle of the night. Fourteen people on board died in the ship disaster. Only five crew members survived the tragedy.

Rusted parts

Rusted parts of the shattered ship are still scattered across the pitch-black beach of Djúpalónssandur. They remind us of the fate of the deceased fishermen in 1948.
