Director's residence Omodeo

Flooded director's residence

The Omodeo water reservoir in Sardinia reveals its secrets during prolonged drought.

Such as this old director's house at the foot of the old Santa Chiara dam, built between 1918 and 1924. At the time, this was the largest dam in Europe.

The director of the power plant lived in the villa with his family. But since 1997, the reservoir has swallowed his house.

Old dam

Then, the old dam was decommissioned and replaced by a new, even higher dam, causing the water level to rise above the power pylons and the villa's roof.

But when the rain does not come, the water level drops, and the villa raises its head above water. With a bit of luck, you will even get to see the garden.
