Wales' largest optical telescope

Marina Towers Observatory

Repurposed observatory

Wales' largest optical telescope has been on Swansea's coastline since the 1990s. But when the municipality increased the rent, the Swansea Astronomical Society cut and ran.

The astronomers moved with all their possessions in 2010. The observatory therefore stood empty until a businessman bought the building.

The slow renovation of the observatory is almost complete. Since 2022, the observatory has been repurposed as a bar.
